Curtiss Thompson

(a.k.a. Peat Moss)
Acoustic guitar, mandolin, vocals, songs

Curt is kind of into that whole Cowboy thing, he tries to model his life on an old black and white Roy Rogers movie. The truth is that when he gets on a horse, he can’t walk for a week, but he does go on about the “Code Of The West” and the “Cowboy Way”. We just humor him.

Curt adds a unique mandolin style and vocals to the Jammers. He has a kind of a Jazz/Rockabilly (Jazzabilly?) sound when he plays mandolin, probably because he plays it like he plays guitar.

Curt's influences include Surf guitar music, The Ventures, the San Francisco sound...The Airplane, The Dead, Quicksilver Messenger Service. "I used to go to sleep with my transistor radio under my pillow, hoping to hear ‘Somebody To Love.’ Then there was Jazz, and all those great players: Joe Pass, Howard Roberts, Kenny Burrell, and Django Rhienhart. When I was up in Alaska in the seventies, I discovered Waylon Jennings, Willie Nelson, and Kris Kristofferson, and found a new appreciation for Johnny Cash and Hank Williams. These authentic country singers led me into Bluegrass and all kinds of raw acoustic music.”
